I’m living my dream life.
I say that with a huge exhale. My shoulders drop. I’m smiling. Relaxed. At peace. Yes, I’m living in a war zone. But that is temporary. Our homeland, that’s forever.
Home.

This dream life was longed for by generation after generation for over two thousand years. I often think about how proud my dear grandparents, all Holocaust survivors, would be of my current life. How surreal it is to be realizing their dream.
But my road home wasn’t direct.
Twenty years ago, on a blind date with my now-hubby, he told me his deepest desire was to make aliyah. I didn’t hesitate to basically tell him: Keep dreaming or keep dating!!!
Well, he dreamed, we dated, and eventually married. Over time, my heart and soul were convinced: it was time to come back home!
Living in our homeland was the ultimate goal. It’s a mitzvah of epic importance. Step 1 was to come home. Step 2 was to build our dream home in our homeland!
We’ve been Israelis for 12 years, but it’s taken time to match the spiritual grandeur of living in Israel with our physical reality.
Thousands of you joined me on this journey through my original aliyah series, watching as we transitioned to life in Israel. Then, you came along to see us Building the Dream Home.
