Grease 2 (9-inch) loaf pans. Knead all the ingredients into a smooth and flexible dough.
Let the dough rise until doubled in volume.
Divide dough in half. Roll out 2 pieces into 1/2 inch thick rectangles.
Spread the chocolate spread generously over each dough.
Sprinkle the halva crumbs over the chocolate.
Roll up each dough lengthwise and press down slightly.
Cut with a sharp knife into halves and twist into a braid. Place into greased pans.
Brush with egg and leave for 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 340F and bake for about 25 minutes, until golden. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
