SALISBURY STEAKS WITH MUSHROOM RAGU

This is the reckoning. Esau is approaching with his entourage. To protect against an attack, Jacob divides his camp and stays on the other side of the Jabbok.

Jacob has accumulated great wealth and numbers. But tonight he is all alone. Jacob wrestles with an angel till dawn. And although the match ends in a stalemate, Jacob emerges with a blessing, a new identity and a new destiny. So tonight we try a recipe that starts out as ground beef, but emerges as a steak dinner.

This menu is part of our month long series of Shabbat menus that can be cooked in an hour (not including challah and dessert)

The Weekly Challah

WEDGE SALAD

Make this extra quick salad for a crisp flavorful start to your Shabbat meal. Use up last week’s challah in these homemade croutons.

More Love

Turn ground meat into saucey steaks that work perfect on shabbat.  Dressed up with a mushroom ragu your family will devour these.

BROCCOLI RABE

Slightly bitter and extra hearty, broccoli rabe is the perfect Shabbat side dish.  If you can’t find it or dont’ like it, just use broccoli.

SMASHED NEW POTATOES

The gravy from the steak is just calling for potatoes, give them what they want and soak up all the flavor.

PUMPKIN MAPLE BUNDT CAKE

You can never go wrong with bundt cake and this version with maple and pumpkin is sure to be a new favorite.
