I don’t use beer much. Years ago I used to make a bread with beer in it; we used it to make hot dog buns, and it was really good with lots of mustard. The yeasty flavor of the beer layers with the yeastiness of the bread. Here’s a recipe from the food network for a “quick” beer bread–I’m not sure it would work for hot dogs, though (even without the butter;)) http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/calling-all-cooks/beer-bread-recipe/index.html

I use dark beer when cooking brisket. Also for every beef gravy – just like the taste, I guess. I don’t fry much but (since I searched) I think I’ll try Easy Beer Batter – http://joyof.kosher.com/recipe/easy-beer-batter/ – on onion rings.

We love Beer Battered Fish & Chips – http://joyof.kosher.com/recipe/beer-battered-fish-and-chips/

I have used beer in other batters as well. My husband loves stout and my son-in-law loves Baileys Irish Cream. For the next holiday we get together I want to try making a chocolate cake using Guinness beer from Nigella and a Irish Buttercream from misobakes blog using Bailey’s. I thought it would please everyone.
