If there ever comes a time when I desperately need a kitchen staff it’s Passover. Not to be greedy, I’d simply settle for a sous chef. But since sadly, I see neither luxury in my future, I’m nominating my 2nd freezer for the job.
Stopping the holiday stress is all about helping yourself. Help me, help you, realize that you can lighten your load by cooking and freezing in advance.
A full freezer makes me so happy that I sometimes wrap my arms around the ice box. I respond to my kids shocked and quizzical stares like any sane, pre-Pesach, balabusta, “you’ll understand when you’re a mommy.”

Hi Jacquelyn! So happy to have you as part of our happy kosher cooking community!. SO there aren’t too many tricks when it comes to pre Passover kitchen prep. Basically there are two possible scenarios. 1) You have a separate Pesach kitchen, literally. Lots of people I know dedicate a closet in their basement (or larger space if avail) for a mini kitchen that’s kosher for Passover and that ONLY gets used for Passover prep and cooking — which is a real luxury since it allows them to start cooking well in advance of the holiday and in advance of officially “turning over” their main kitchen for Passover. 2) For the rest of us — if you really love to prep in advance, which I do, bc it makes me calm!!!!!!!!, as clearly illustrated by all those exclamation marks — I “turn over my kitchen” which it Passover slang for cleaning and kashering the kitchen for Pesach and includes (AMONG MANY OTHER detailed requirements according to Jewish law) putting away ALL my year-round kitchen pots, pans, utensils, etc…. and pulling out my Passover cookware — so that I can indeed cook in advance.
