Use bulgur mixed in with your ground beef to make a unique, lower in fat burger that tastes amazing and fills you up too. Get your whole grains easily when mixed in with your burger.

Bulgur Burgers

Ingredients
- 1 cup bulgur wheat
- 2 cups Water
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1 Combine bulgur and water, cover, and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat 15 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.2 Mix the cooked bulgur with the remaining ingredients and knead as you would dough, until all the ingredients are thoroughly blended. Add water if mixture seems dry, and dip hands in water frequently to aid kneading.3 Form mixture into patties and fry until brown and cooked through.4 Variation: Bulgur Meat Loaf5 Preheat oven to 400°F. Prepare and knead mixture as above, then mold the blended mixture into a well-greased meat loaf pan (approx. 9″x5″).6 Spoon tomato sauce or steak sauce over loaf, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 20 minutes.7 Reduce heat to 350°F and bake an additional 15 minutes. Remove foil and allow to sit in over for 10 minutes.

One other thought is Baharat – a blend of Persian spices that goes well in meat balls and burgers.
Those are great ideas, maybe a teaspoon of each? Curry powder would also be good in place of some or in addition.
Which spices and in what quantities would spice this recipe up? I’m thinking cumin, coriander, maybe a drop of cayenne or hot paprika. Any ideas?
