This perfect and simple homemade hot chocolate recipe shows off great chocolate. No need for flash and glitz. Just good quality chocolate and whole milk. This is the hot chocolate of France in Le Marais. Satisfying and delicious.

- 5 ounces bittersweet chocolate
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- Garnishes: a few flakes of sea salt, whipped cream, marshmallows, shaved chocolate, dash of vanilla extract
1. Heat chocolate, milk, and sugar in a small saucepan over very low heat, stirring occasionally until you see whiffs of steam. Do not allow to boil as milk is prone to scalding.
2. Divide hot chocolate between mugs and garnish with a few flakes of sea salt and top with garnishes, or enjoy just as is.
