My husband’s birthday was a few weeks ago and of course, he asked me to make him his favourite cake (i.e. chocolate cake). He absolutely adores this cake, but I don’t think he realizes how fast and easy it is to make! It actually calls for chocolate cake mix! But you would never know that it’s not completely from scratch because it’s so yummy!

“It’s so easy” Chocolate Cake
Servings
12 Servings
Ingredients
- 1 package chocolate cake mix
- 1 package instant chocolate pudding
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup chocolate mint liqueur
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 6 ounces chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325F.
- Mix all ingredients together. Pour into greased bundt pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes.
- For the icing, I used a combination of icing sugar, cocoa, a dash of mint extract and some water/orange juice. Unfortunately, though, I didn’t pay attention to exact amounts.
- A tip for icing cakes: I always place 4 pieces of parchment paper under the cake (as in the above picture) so that the icing drips onto the parchment and not the plate that I’m serving it on. When the icing has hardened, I remove the parchment and have a beautifully iced cake with no residue on the plate!

To purchase a packaged chocolate cake mix – that is not what I call a recipe. I was looking for some brilliance from Tamar like 3 cups of flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 cup powdered cocoa, etc…. Many thanks. Shabbat Shalom. Made Mrs. Finkelstein’s Marble Cake – WOWWY!! That’s called a recipe.
4 oz. should work
is the pudding a small or large package?
Can you make this in a 9×13?
Everyone thinks I’ve patchked for hours when I serve this cake. We all love it and I love the ease with which it comes together!!!
Just saw this now – maybe try orange juice.
Kosher liquor might be a bit hard for me to find. Can you recommend anything I can substitute?
