Sloppy Joes are traditionally sandwiches of ground beef seasoned with spices and covered in tomato sauce. Our Israeli style sloppy joe is seasoned with shawarma spices, covered in a tahini sauce and served in a pita.
It's also made with ground chicken or turkey which makes it healthier and lighter.

1. Heat extra virgin olive oil in a large saute pan over medium-high heat. Saute onion, stirring frequently, until golden and soft. Add garlic and cook until just fragrant about 1 minute. Season with shawarma seasoning, salt and pepper, toss to coat.
2. Add ground turkey, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, and cook for 10 minutes, until no longer pink and completely cooked through.
3. Meanwhile, mix tahini with lemon and water.
4. Remove meat from heat and stir in half of the tahini mixture to coat turkey. Spoon Sloppy Joes into pitas and drizzle more of the tahini mixture on top. Serve alongside Israeli salad and pickles.
