Jamie's Broccoli Kugel

Broccoli Kugel

K is for Kugels. Kugels, kugels, kugels.

And we would not be a kosher site worth our weight in kosher salt if we didn’t try to bring you the absolute most comprehensive listing of kosher kugel recipes known to man, woman and child.

Kugel is so prevalent on most Shabbat and holiday menus that it almost seems like a minhag (a custom) to hold on to for tradition.  While tradition is a great reason to keep kugels on the menu there are so many more.

Kugels are delicious, they are perfect to make in advance and freeze and reheat.  You can also make them in so many different ways.  That’s why we compiled this list of a variety of kugels so you can experiment and find your favorites.

Broccoli Kugel

Two Jews, three opinions is how the saying goes, even more so when it comes to food. Some crowd-pleasing kugels include a great way to use up leftover challah with a Challah Kugel and a easy vegetable side is our Broccoli Kugel.

I would not store raw kugel, I think it is best cooked and reheated as needed from fridge or freezer. These shape and store containers do look interesting, thanks for bringing them to our attention, not sure we can get a whole cookbook for them but will see what we can come up with.

Spinach Mushroom Kugel we always had it at Easter and my favorite way to eat it is cold. We have some Jewish Heritage in our background so our flavors are always a hodgepodge of deliciousness.

Do you have a simple kasha kugel recipe?
I’m experimenting lately, but it falls apart.

My next attempt is going to be: After the regular cooking step, when the kasha is right for consumption, I’m going to stir in a light “potato starch/water solution and let it stand till it dries. That might give me a kugel that won’t fall apart.

Crazily my post disappeared into the ethers. I was asking if raw kugel batter can be stored in the Jumbo Shape+Store, and also if there’s a kosher version of these recipes: https://www.qvc.com/footers/cd/pdf/K47249_Recipes_And_Tips.pdf

Better yet, would be a kosher cookbook exclusively devoted to recipes for both Shape+Store and Betty Crocker pizza maker. Since people rave over both of these conveniences.

    Hi,

First off, Jamie your doing an amazing job! I’m always looking for yummy, easy recipes. I was wondering if you would take on the challenge of creating some meals catered for my darling husband who does not eat vegetables. Yes, even sauté onions. He will eat something that is very blended like squash soup, or sweet potato soup. And potato kugel with a very well mushed onion. He does eat fruit though, and lettuce. So my salads don’t have vegetables, only lettuce and fruits. And the only side I can really make is potatoes. 🙁 he doesn’t like rice, coos coos and yes vegetables. And doesn’t like chicken on the bone. Only chicken breasts, and meat. So I challenge you my dear to help me feed my husband healthy, good food without making it seem healthy. And I also ordered your magazine. But I only received it well after they were out in stores. And I hope I can receive the next issue before rosh hashana.

I also would love to try the roasted garlic kugel, but cannot get the recipe, having similar problems getting other recipes as the site needs tweaking, also if you posted answers to people’s questions. Wishing you continued success withe the magazine and I am looking forward to my next copy, where no clicks are necessary. Even my post is a mystery as an unidentified address appeared out of no where.

Thank you for creating such a kugel site with such varieties. I am a ‘kugel’ crazy — almost all my holiday meals have to have a kugel on the menu…..can’t wait to try some of your kugels. Your Joy of Kosher site is amazing and proud of the fact that you have and continue to be so involved with this venue which is long over due. I look forward to receiving your NEXT Joy of Kosher magazine as well….i.e. before Rosh Hashonah, do you think? Take care and be well, Elaine

I’d like the site better if you didn’t have to click so many times to get to what you’re looking for. “Click here to get recipe(s),” means click here, & then click again in the page that the 1st click takes you too. Very annoying…

Hi Jamie! Some of the kugel links are not linking to kugels but link to pages that say the page has not been found. Would love to try some of the kugels, but I’m unable to access all the recipes. The roasted garlic noodle kugel sounds amazing and the squash kugel looks heavenly! Thanks!
