Three Onion Wild Rice
Servings
4 Servings
Ingredients
- 2 cup wild rice not quick-cooking
- 2 large sweet onions
- 3 leeks
- 6 shallots
- oil for sauteing
Instructions
- Cook rice according to package directions. (Do not choose a quick-cooking variety. The varieties that need 40-50 minutes to cook have much better flavor.) Dice onions, the white parts of the leeks, and shallots. Heat oil in a sauté pan over low heat. Add onions and cook until completely soft and caramelized. When rice is almost fully cooked but still moist, add onions and stir to combine. Continue to cook over low heat, allowing onion flavor to distribute.

I will have to try it another time.
So sorry to hear that, I can’t understand why it would come out that way. Maybe it was on too high.
Tried this .. not sure what went wrong. Maybe my rice wasn’t cooked enough? or too much water in the rice to begin with ? but the whole thing just became a big pile of mush.
