The Falic family doesn’t count how many Shabbats have hit sixty guests. It happens often enough that nobody keeps score anymore. Their home is open to almost anyone, as long as you come with love and good intentions. They’ve hosted a sitting Prime Minister of Israel during the war, African diplomats, freed hostages, wounded soldiers, and once, a former member of the European Parliament who sat down at their table and started to cry.
He apologized. Not for anything he had personally done, but for what his own people did to ours, generations back. Then he told her he was going to bring his children to Israel one day, to make sure the cycle broke with him.
The table itself tells its own story. Moroccan fish, teriyaki salmon, and gefilte fish sit side by side every week, a reflection of just how many different worlds sit down together in that house.
Every Wednesday, I’ve got a new conversation waiting for you. Same time. Same place. Come sit with me.
