I had lots of trouble writing this intro because my experience at the City of David, Biblical Jerusalem was so extraordinary, so moving, so breathtaking, so meaningful and so emotional. So… instead of continuing to try and put it into words I figured I would just show you. Watch this.
Special thanks to The City of David Foundation and my knowledgeable, inspiring, and kind tour guide Ze’ev Orenstein. Ze’ev just lives and breathes this stuff, his passion made my visit unforgettable.

p.s. How could I forget to comment- Of course, the Moshav Band (your great backround music),is my absolute FAVORITE Jewish Band. You must experience Yehudah Solomon- leader of The Moshav Band, daven on Shabbes at his minyan- The Happy Minyan, on Pico Blvd. in LA- our favorite minyan in the world!!
Dear Jamie- Todah for your sweet response. I know someday BE”H we will meet in Eretz HaKodesh. May I comment- My husband, Rabbi Dov Peretz Elkins, and I were both born and raised in Philly!!!!!!! (I knew we were kindred spirits!) During my freedom for Soviet Jews activist days, in the 70’s & 80’s, the Captain of the Red Army (former USSR) hockey team, after he encountered our protest at the hockey game between their team and the Philadelphia Flyers (Stanley Cup Winners that year) wrote in his book that Philly is the “Zionist Capital of the world!!” Indeed Philly has been a major city in producing huge numbers of Olim through the decades. I wish you continued success in all of your endeavors which we all use in our own kitchens. B’Hatzlacha! Kol Tuv! Miryam Gornish Elkins, Yerushaliyim (right now briefly in Princeton) p.s. Indeed, as your wrote, we ARE “so very lucky” to be living in our Jewish Homeland, a place where our grand parents and great grandparents could only dream about. In many ways, I feel I made aliyah for them as well!
Miryam!!!!!!!!! What an amazing, amazing comment – thank you so so so very much for taking the time to write me. You can not know how incredible it is to hear your feedback – your blessings and words give me so much strength! It’s amazing to know how the videos have influenced you and even more amazing to know that you have now come HOME! You are so right – Jerusalem is total Holy Heaven 🙂 (I a am originally from Philly, just a hop skip and a jump from Princeton – I love how we both ended up making Aliyah! We are so very lucky!) And thank you for sharing our story and videos with your list! LOVE Jamie
Jamie, we have never met but out of the hundreds of reasons why we made aliyah to Yerushaliyim (Holy heaven) from Princeton, NJ (Academia heaven) was partially because of your great aliyah videos. I sent them out to my list of hundreds world wide- my Israel/Jewish activist list. This tour of Ir David is a perfect example of your energy and enthusiasm for Israel and Judaism. Keep it going- you are terrific! (I told Nefesh B’Nefesh how you influenced us.) After 40 some trips to Israel some for 6 months at a time, it was time to make aliyah (especially since 2 of our 6 kids live here). Todah- Mazal tov on your sabra!!! Miryam (Maxine) Elkins
HILA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TODA to you!!! I am so thankful for your comment and so thrilled you enJOYed the video SO much!

Hila.

Oh Sina you have always been so supportive thank you!
Raizy Face I miss you!
Thanks Chanie for watching!
Mary Ruth – thank you for taking the time to write me it means so much. I also have that reaction to Moshav’s music. They have a song “Come Back To Me Now” you must listen to it — before we decided to make aliyah I would always burst out in uncontrollable tears (sobbing) with the chorus… as soon as we decided to make aliyah it became a happy song for me. So I guess that’s why I just felt I had to have their music in the Joy of Aliyah and Joy of Israel video series. Thank G-d they so graciously have allowed us to license it. Where is your emunah Mary Ruth?! Don’t think you may never see these places in person think you will! Think good and it will be good! Can’t wait for you to join us here! Soon!
WOW THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! As we both know there is nothing to be afraid of – in fact I feel safer here!
Oh yes it’s like another world now! you have to come back!
when i saw the video it just makes me miss Israel so much more thanks for bringing it to us.
i love every one of the JOI videos. This is such a great project and I really hope there will be many more.
Beautiful video and interview. I learned something new today!
So inspiring and special, thank you for sharing!
When you got to the Kotel, and the song from Moshav began to play, I started to cry. Your videos always touch me more than any other videos of Israel, and the music of Moshav is what i always listen to in the car. Thank you for taking the time to share with us, I may never see these places in person, and as a Jew, a convert, it means the world to me.
Jamie, thank you for representing our country. Your video doing good to Israel. Specially to those who never visited Israel, and afraid. Thank you
I had the joy of visiting Ir David in 2008. So much more has been uncovered that you have just increased my desire to visit again. Thank you, Jamie.
