Watermelon Soup

Watermelon Fruit Soup

You don’t really have to buy a whole huge watermelon anymore.  There are baby watermelons and many stores offer halves or even quarters so that a person/family of any size can still enjoy the fruit before it goes bad.

Once you learn the many easy, refreshing, delicious ways to enjoy this fruit you will find going through a whole melon is a piece of watermelon cake.

We hope you enjoy the video above, it’s a real throwback, filmed in 2012!  But the lesson is the same, you can make a gorgeous fruit basket with a whole watermelon, it’s super fun to get the whole family involved, anyone can use a melon baller.

If you’re not quite up for a presentation project, consider juice.

The first thing I do when I crack open a watermelon is make juice.  You don’t need a juicer for this, any regular blender will work.  Just puree and pour, then sit back and pretend your on a beach.

If you want to dress things up a bit, try this Watermelon Fruit Soup and serve as a first course.

While you are in pureeing mode, place some in a freezer-safe container and turn it into granita.  It works perfectly on its own or you can try this recipe for Watermelon Granita in Lime Cups.

Beyond Fruit Salad: 5 Incredible Ways to Cook Your Fruit

Fresh produce is a driving force behind menu planning from all over the world. There is so …

Granita is like a grown up snow cone or shaved ice made form pureed and frozen fruit. Most recipes call for sugar or other additives, but when a watermelon is tasty and sweet, it really doesn’t need anything else.

Keep going with frozen desserts by making Watermelon Popsicles.

Pour some into popsicle molds, add some kiwi for decoration and any of your favorite fruits or flavors.  Yummy fruit on a stick for another day.

Watermelon Cocktail

Now for the real grown-up uses, let’s make some cocktails.  Watermelon makes an incredible base for many cocktails.  Puree it up, add some frozen strawberries and vodka or rum and you are all set, no sugar needed.  You can also strain it and make a watermelon martini for a more refined drink.

Watermelon Cosmo

If you still have some watermelon left, cut it up into cubes and freeze.  You can now use it as ice cubes to flavor simple water or in your cocktail glass for your cosmos.  You can also use the cubes to make a frozen blended drink any time.

Watermelon Mint Salad

Watermelon is not just for drinks and desserts.  You can try a savory salad with mint and/or feta for a refreshing salad this Summer.  It’s a surprising combo that is really incredible.

If you really want to make sure to use the WHOLE watermelon you can even pickle the rind, make Watermelon Rind Pickles and show everyone how you really used that watermelon.
