With a terribly heavy heart we announce the tragic passing of our dear friend and colleague, רחל לאה בת שרה ע״ה, Rachael Masri, a”h (Editorial Assistant, JOYofKOSHER.com).
Beautiful inside and out, Rachael inspired friends and strangers alike with her strength, courage, and kindness. A rare gem, to know her was to love her. We are forever changed for having had the honor of being part of her life. Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.

I was so lucky to find Rachael just about a year ago to join our team as my Editorial Assistant. She picked up the work so fast and impressed me from the beginning. She brought her own spin to everything she did and as much as I taught her she taught me so much more. When she told me about her battle with cancer my heart went out that someone so young and vibrant had to suffer like that and I hoped along with her that it was in her past. Sadly, too quickly the cancer returned, but despite everything she was going through she never missed a beat. She literally worked in the hospital in between surgeries and at home long as she physically was able. I will always remember her and be inspired by her.
I am simply distraught over our loss. My time with Rachael was inspired and strengthening. She was so kind, such a special soul, truly an exceptional wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, colleague and human being. May her memory be for a blessing.
Even though I’ve only known Rachael for a short time, I was able to immediately see that she was so kind and a special person. It was a pleasure to work with and learn from her. Baruch Dayan Ha’emet.
Rachael was remarkable. She was a walking superlative in all respects- beautiful, funny, intelligent, wise, kind, loving, giving, DOING. I elaborated on my memories here http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/remembering-rachael-ah/. She is deeply missed and I’m grateful for having had her in my life, even though it was for far too short.
I’ve known Rachel only for a couple of months, but during the time I have known her she was so nice and kind. A great colleague and a great person. If there is something that I have learned from her and she was able to pass on was, to live life to it’s fullest and not to waste any moments. May her memory be blessed, Baruch Dayan Ha’emet.
