The checklist is a great way to stay organized. I would add a meat thermometer to the list.

I have a miserable BBQ story! We were camping and cooking over a fire. The kids were enjoying throwing sticks and kindling into the campfire. One of them apparently picked poison ivy and threw it in. Two of the kids got poison ivy in their respiratory tracts and had to visit the ER. From now on, it’s nice, clean charcoal or gas for us.
