Babi’s Delicious Cookies

Growing up this defined a visit to my grandmother. She always had them stored in an old metal tin in her freezer. We would beg to be allowed to eat a second one.

Babi’s Delicious Cookies

Cook Time 20 minutes mins
Total Time 1 hour hr 5 minutes mins

Ingredients

  • 4 sticks margarine
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 cup flour
  • 1 egg mixed with water for washing

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cream the margarine and sugar.  Then combine all of the remaining ingredients.
  • Roll out on flour and cut using a cookie cutter!
  • Then brush each cookie with egg wash mixture and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

    Use a conversion chart available on the internet. 1 1/2 cups of oil. I use neutral tasting Canola oil. Olive oil lends its own taste which would conflict with the orange juice. As to how many will this recipe yield, it would be dependent on the size of your cookie cutters.

    how many cookies does this make? a whole pound of margarine is a lot of trans fats – hope you’re using non hydrogenated nowadays
