I showcased this recipe on The Today Show as an easy and nutritious pairing to classic latkes, my grandfathers secret recipe. This is an alternative way to make apple sauce without any added sugar or butter. Gala apples are best due to their higher sugar content.

oops a 9 x 13 pan will edit/add to the recipe now – and they will stay shredded – you can see the texture in the picture. Enjoy!
It would be good to know what size pan to use and whether the apples turn into sauce or remain in their shredded state. Thanks!
Why have I never thought of doing this? Great idea – sounds wonderful.
