Homemade Beer Mustard

Beer Mustard

Homemade mustard is incredibly easy and gives you the ability to flavor it exactly as you like.  This recipe uses beer for flavor and is on the spicy side, using the brown seeds along with yellow allows for a nice whole grain texture too.

  • 1/3 cup yellow mustard seeds
  • 1/4 cup brown mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup dark beer
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt


  1. In a small bowl, cover yellow and brown mustard seeds with vinegar and beer. Cover and place in the refrigerator overnight.

  2. Stir remaining ingredients into the mustard seeds and place all in blender. Puree until smooth. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate overnight before using.
