Chocolate Chip Sugar Cookies

These are fabulous sugar cookies and you can add anything to them. The dough can be made ahead of time and frozen or bake the cookies and freeze them.

Ingredients

  • 200 Grams or 2/3 Cup margarine – cold
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • Chopped Nuts and/or Chocolate optional

Instructions

  • In a mixer bowl, put 200 grams (or 2/3 C Margarine), 1 C Sugar, 1 Egg and 1 teaspoon Vanilla. Mix until well creamed.  Add in 2 C flour and 1 teaspoon Baking Soda. Add in Chopped Nuts and/or Chocolate Chips, mix into a dough (will be slightly sticky).
  • Roll into 1 inch balls. Place on cookie sheets lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 350’/180’ for about 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Centers will be slightly soft.
  • Let cool.
  • These cookies freeze beautifully.

    I just made these using 1/2 cup of oil instead of margarine and they came out great!!!

    Amazing sugar cookie recipe!!!

    I just made these cookies with the Mike & Ike’s. My son is allergic to eggs, so since this recipe only calls for 1 egg, I used Ener-G Egg Replacer to replace the egg and it worked great. I just had to keep them in the oven for 12 minutes (common to increase the time when replacing the eggs). My kids and I all really enjoyed them. They will absolutely enhance our Yom Tov!
