I used the “Dark Chocolate Fudge” cake mix when I realized I brought home “Butter Golden” instead of the “Butter Fudge” cake mix. I’m not sure if that made so much of a difference but these came out more on the cake side than on the brownie side.

    I would suggest 2 tips:
    1) sift the cake mix, or otherwise break all the bumps of mix as this isn’t an easy mix to stir and you don’t want those bumps in the final product.
    2) if you’re going to melt your butter/margarine in the microwave, use a large bowl so you can add everything to it later. That’ll save you a little extra cleanup.

Very fudgy, chocolate-y. I like brownies under-baked a bit and we tried dried cranberries instead of nuts (had a guest with allergies).
