Egg Cream

An egg cream is a simple drink with neither eggs or cream. It began popping up in Brooklyn soda fountain shops in the early 1900s. Still found at many old school New York diner's the egg cream is one of the most nostalgic Jewish drinks for many who grew up in New York. 

With seltzer machines like Soda Stream growing in popularity it is even easier to make your own egg cream at home which needs an extra fizzy seltzer.

  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup seltzer


In a tall glass add chocolate syrup and milk and 1/2 cup seltzer.  Stir well with a spoon.  Top off with more seltzer and drink with a straw.
