We recently partnered with WW, formerly Weight Watchers, to show you how easy it is to live a healthier lifestyle even when you keep kosher and observe Shabbat. The program does the thinking for you and helps you make choices that fit into your personal SmartPoints™ budget so you can still eat the things you love and lose weight.
This magical dough is made with 2 ingredients, self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. But more importantly, it's actually ready to shape and bake in 5 minutes and you can literally make almost anything from this quick and easy, low in fat, high in protein dough. Really, truly this recipe is the answer to all your carb-loving fantasies. But the best part, anyone can learn to make bread, bagels, babka and more with very little kitchen skill or equipment.
A seemingly magical cooking hack, two-ingredient dough is made from combining self-rising flour and plain fat-free Greek yogurt—that's it! Because Greek yogurt is a ZeroPoint™ food on some plans, the only SmartPoints™ you need to count come from the flour (3 SmartPoints™ for 1/4 cup) and any toppings, fillings, and add-ins.
ZeroPoint™ foods are a game changer - these are foods that cost your daily SmartPoints™ budget ZERO! Nonfat Greek yogurt, salmon, chicken breast, eggs and chickpeas, even bananas...are a few examples of ZeroPoint™ foods that can form the foundation of healthy eating and keep you full and not feeling deprived. On all other programs you have calorie limits, but there’s no limit on ZeroPoint™ foods which is so liberating and can change your relationship with food. I recommend keeping your list of ZeroPoint™ foods handy (I use the app and Hubby actually has a print out hanging on our kitchen wall), as these foods will be your go-to for your success.
These 3 classically Jewish foods are not the only things you can make with two-ingredient dough and once you start playing around we guarantee you won't stop. We haven't.
To get you started we recommend keeping a few pantry staples on hand. Sesame seeds will help make your 2-ingredient dough into dinner rolls, everything seasoning will make everyone think you bought the bagels and sauce and cheese will make a quick pizza any day.
Oh, and if you don't have self-rising flour for two-ingredient dough on hand, you can always make your own: Start with 1 cup of all-purpose flour (whole wheat or gluten-free alternatives should work just as well) and add 1½ teaspoons of baking powder and ½ teaspoon of salt. (The SmartPoints™ values should remain about the same, but if you have any doubts you can always use your WW App to create new recipes, then adjust SmartPoints™ for single servings based on your batch size.)
Note: The magic in this dough is really best when made with Greek yogurt, but if you want to make this vegan or pareve, try a dairy-free yogurt or check out these versions with Butternut Squash and Pumpkin.
