This seasoned salt substitute is so popular in our house, the kids call it magic. We sprinkle it on frozen French fries before baking for delicious spicy fries, on popcorn, on chicken cutlets sautéed with onions, on zucchini before oven- or pan roasting, on Amnon fish (tilapia) with a little lemon juice and olive oil before baking… whatever you can think of! While I have greatly reduced the salt from the original form of the recipe, feel free to further adjust it to your preference.

Magic Salt
Servings
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons salt melach
- 2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons sugar sucar lavan
- 2 teaspoons paprika paprika metuka
- 1 teaspoon turmeric corcum
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder gvishei shum
- 1 teaspoon onion powder imported, or use additional ½ teaspoon of garlic instead
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a container with a tight fitting cover. Close and shake well. An empty spice jar with a shaker top is great for this. If humidity is a problem where you live, add up to ½ teaspoon cornstarch (cornflor) to the mixture to help prevent clumping.
