Pie Fries (mèches de tarte)

  • pie dough scraps (cut from a 10-inch pie)
  • melted butter, to taste
  • granulated sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • nutmeg (or other spices of choice)
  • jam, for dipping



1 Collect your pie dough scraps. They may already be in slivers; if not, put them together into one clump, and roll out. It''s fine if the dough looks slightly lumpy when rolled out.
2 Slice the dough into "fries" in desired length and size.
3 Place the cut strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4 Using a pastry brush, brush them with as little or as much butter as you desire.
5 Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and any other spices.
6 Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 10 minutes, or until crispy around the edges.
