Pigskin Puppies

Pigskin Puppies

I like to make these for the Super Bowl, the most important thing to remember while watching the biggest football game of the year is that while the players get down and dirty on the field you should feel free to get down and dirty with your food. Forks and knives are for shabbos dinner not for Super Bowl Sunday.

Servings

8 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1 .5 pounds of beef fry/pastrami each slice should be cut in half across the middle
  • 2 12 oz. packages of mini-cocktail franks
  • 1 3/4 cups of brown sugar

Instructions

  • 1 Wrap each slice of the beef fry around a hot dog and arrange on a cookie sheet 4 hours before you plan on serving them. Sprinkle 3/4 cup brown sugar to lightly coat the hot dogs, cover and refrigerate.2 Take out 20 minutes before serving. Place the beef fry wrapped Franks on a 2nd cookie sheet (this prevents the brown sugar drippings from burning) and sprinkle with remaining brown sugar (about a cup) and the soy sauce.3 Set oven on low broil and cook for 8-10 minutes, while watching closely to prevent burning.4 If you can’t find beef fry, the closest thing we have to bacon, feel free to use pastrami. You should also serve with more than one dipping sauce, one a little sweet (mayo, horseradish, and honey) and the other a little zesty (cocktail sauce).

I don’t know what happened to the recipe, hopefully Ari will answer, but my guess is somewhere around 1-2 tablespoons.

this recipe doesn’t mention soy sauce in the ingredients, but it says “add the soy sauce” in directions.
    How much soy sauce? thanks
