If you want to feel Tel Aviv’s soul — the raw, colorful, creative, and deeply flavorful part of it — you have to head to Florentin.
This southern Tel Aviv neighborhood has undergone an incredible transformation. What was once gritty and neglected is now one of the city’s most vibrant, expressive, and artistic corners. It’s a hub for designers, musicians, and trendsetters, and somehow still feels like one of the city’s best-kept secrets.
A Living, Breathing Canvas

Florentin is bursting with energy — and graffiti. Not the scribbled, messy kind, but full-blown street art that tells stories of protest, love, heritage, and hope. On a family trip, we took a graffiti walking tour that absolutely captivated all of us — even the teens! I took some of my favorite photos during that tour.
You can feel the creative heartbeat of the city here. Every wall is a canvas, every alley a gallery.

The Food Scene

Let’s be honest — I always travel with my stomach. And Florentin doesn’t disappoint.

More Love
From fresh falafel and shawarma to plant-based spots and cozy cafés, there’s something for everyone. Florentina is a kosher dairy spot we love for salads, pasta, and baked goods with a creative twist. If you’re in the mood for classic Israeli hummus, try Hummus Eliyahu or Sharon Hummus. Need something heartier? Almaz serves up kosher Ethiopian cuisine with traditional injera and warming stews.
Nearby, Levinsky Market is a must. This market is packed with old-school spice shops, nut stalls, bourekas, and Shabbat-ready takeout like kubbeh, ktzitzot, and rich, comforting soups from HaKubbeh Shel Avi and Gormeh Sabzi. I always leave with full bags (and a full belly).

After Dark
As the sun sets, Florentin shifts gears. It becomes one of Tel Aviv’s most electric nightlife zones — think low-lit bars, rooftop lounges, and live music venues tucked into old buildings.
For something fun and laid-back, check out Night Shift, a kosher urban bar right in the middle of it all.

What to Do (Besides Eat and Stare at Walls)
- Graffiti tour – highly recommended for families or anyone who wants to understand the cultural vibe of the area
- Levinsky Market – great for a self-guided tasting tour
- Lehi Museum – a small but powerful museum dedicated to the Jewish underground fighters before the State of Israel was established. It’s an important stop for history buffs and older kids
- Just wander. Really. The streets themselves are the attraction here
Where to Stay
If you’re planning an overnight or weekend in the city, Albi Hotel is one of the only hotels actually located in Florentin. It’s a beautifully designed boutique property with minimalist style and big Tel Aviv energy. We love supporting hotels that let you feel part of the neighborhood, and Albi fits the bill.
You can check them out here.
Another great nearby option is the Mulan Hotel, just a short walk away and close to many other central spots.
Florentin is one of those places you feel. It’s gritty and gorgeous, messy and magical. Whether you’re discovering bold flavors, learning about Israel’s underground history, or just soaking up the street art, this neighborhood is proof that Tel Aviv never stops evolving — and Florentin is where it lets loose.
