You know, sometimes we see people on social media who look like they have it all together—the perfect fitness routine, the glowing smile, the polished life. But as I’ve learned walking the streets of the Rova, everyone has a story that goes so much deeper than what you see on a screen.
This week, I had the privilege of walking with the inspiring Matty Stein. Matty is a fitness trainer and speaker, but she is also a survivor who has overcome hurdles most of us can’t even imagine.
Watch our full conversation here:
Building More Than Just Muscle
Matty opened up to me about her childhood, sharing the raw reality of growing up homeless. It was a “Hello, world!” moment for me to hear how she turned that early struggle into a life dedicated to helping others find their own strength—not just physically, but spiritually.
We sat down in the heart of Jerusalem to talk about the things that really matter:
- Marriage as a Mission: Why she believes marriage should be “forever” and how she chooses to commit to that daily.
- The “Shift” in Purpose: Why she transitioned from focusing only on fitness to sharing her voice as a speaker.
- The Social Media Trap: Her “Healthy-ish” advice for managing screen time and why professionals must protect their own mental space.
- Real Self-Care: Hint—it’s not about vegging on the couch! It’s about connection, prayer, and finding your center.
Finding Focus in the Holy City
Matty’s daily prayer practice and her deep connection to Jerusalem are what keep her grounded, and seeing her light up as we approached the Kotel was something I’ll never forget. She is living proof that with focus and faith, you can overcome anything in your path. 🕍
