Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is my basic cookie recipe I use all the time.  I call them sneaky because they work great with whole grain flour and the oats in the recipe is actually what makes them great. They are still cookies, but at least I get some whole grains in with out any complaints.

These were based on the Mrs. fields cookie recipe that went around the internet years ago.

Servings

6 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vegan butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2½ cups oats blended
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1½ cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Cream butter and sugars with a mixer. When fluffy, add eggs and vanilla.
  • 2 Mix in other ingredients. Spoon out large balls of dough and place 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet.
  • 3 Baked for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Tip: you can freeze the dough in portioned out balls and only make as many as you want at a time. There is nothing like fresh cookies.

These cookies are GREAT! I substituted butter for the margarine with no problem and the recipe made about six dozen of the most delectable cookies ! It would have made EXACTLY six dozen if the “cookie dough taster” had not struck…Thanks for the recipe Tamar!
