Classic Miso Soup

This is a simple and delicious soup. The Japanese also use miso soup to soothe an upset stomach.

  • 8 cup water
  • miso soup paste, enough for 8 cups water
  • 8 ounce firm tofu, cubed
  • 3 fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 green onions, diced, plus a few more, for garnish


Bring water to a boil in a medium-size saucepan.  Add miso paste and stir until the paste is fully dissolved.  Add tofu, mushrooms, and green onions.  Let simmer 3-5 minutes.  Serve with a sprinkle of green onions.
