Grandma's Texas Sheet Cake (1980)
This is my Grandma Baskette's recipe, and I promise you, it feeds many with its rich and chocolatey deliciousness!
The ingredients "2 cups sugar" through "1 tsp vanilla" are for the cake. After that, the three ingredients are for the icing.

- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 .5 sticks butter
- 4 Tbls cocoa
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 Eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 stick butter (for icing)
- 1 box powdered sugar (for icing)
- 6 Tbls buttermilk

Preparation
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2 Sift sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt into a bowl.
3 Melt butter, cocoa, and water, and bring to a rapid boil. Pour over dry ingredients.
4 Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla.
5 Bake in cookie sheet pan with tall edges for 15-20 minutes.
6 For icing, melt butter on stove and add cocoa and buttermilk. Bring to a boil and pour over powdered sugar. Mix well. Add pinch salt and 1 tsp vanilla. Spread over cake while cake and icing are hot.
7 Let rest and serve.
