Roasted Apples with Date Syrup

These roasted apples are really best eaten right off the pan (I just can't help myself), being careful not to burn your mouth, of course! But if you fancy yourself a bit more civilized, you could serve them atop a vanilla frozen dessert or along side a sponge cake for a delicious holiday treat.

Simple, roasted apples enhanced here using date syrup and cardamom (Hawaij for Coffee would be delicious here too.  They make the perfect sweet treat any time.

  • 4 apples, peeled and sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoon date syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon Earth Balance Margarine, cut into small pieces


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment, spray with cooking spray.
  3. Mix apples with lemon juice, date syrup, cinnamon, cardamom, cornstarch and salt in a deep bowl.  Spread on baking sheet, top with pieces of Earth Balance.  Bake 15 to 20 minutes until golden and soft.
