Even though I’m solidly Ashkenazi, I’ve always been a little obsessed with the idea of a Persian Purim Seudah. Think about it: the entire Purim story happens in exotic Shushan! The Megillah gives us such a vivid, colorful picture of palace life that I feel like I’m practically there.
So, when in Shushan… we eat like royalty.
Now, if you want a 100% authentic, multi-day-prep Persian menu, Chef Laura has you covered here. But if you want that royal “wow factor” without needing a staff of servants to help you pull it off? Stay right here. Since we don’t actually know what Esther served Achashverosh at that famous banquet, I’m taking some creative liberty. A Grand Finale

The banquet ends with a flourish of fresh mint tea and my favorite Fig Walnut Cookies. They aren’t too sweet, but they feel incredibly special—the kind of treat you’d remember for years.
Now, it is time to arise, my Queen (or King)! And with any luck, your “royal other half” will be inspired by the meal enough to help with the dishes!

LOL happy to make you laugh — by the way he has stepped up and now is a regular dishwasher — I guess that makes us both lucky!!!!!
I am still kind of laughing with the “maybe my royal other half will help with the dishes!” He will, he almost always does! Am I lucky or what!? Many thanks, Annette
