This is an easy non dairy cornbread recipes that is not too sweet, but just sweet enough. Use more or less based on preference.

Cook Time 25 minutes mins
Total Time 35 minutes mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup soymilk
  • ¼ cup vegan butter or coconut oil

Instructions

  • Sift together dry ingredients into a bowl.
  • Add egg, soymilk and vegan butter. Beat until smooth, about one minute. Do not overbeat.
  • Preheat oven to 425°. Bake in a greased 8-inch square pan for 20-25 minutes.

    i assume you mean instead of margarine? you cannot trade a liquid for a solid without something going awry. there are other recipes on the site that use extra virgin olive oil instead of margarine. I would suggest you look at those.

      I have allergy to red meat and that includes milk cream most margines have milk

        Try Earth Balance shortening which is a vegan product. Vegan products are very strict to be free of animal products.

        It is a great and much healthier alternative than margarine.

        That is a good question, you do want it to be soft, so maybe 10 seconds in the microwave.
