Make Your Own Seaweed Snacks


Do It Yourself Roasted Seaweed Snacks are easy, tasty and nutritious. My kids love snacking on plain seaweed sheets whenever we have sushi, so I when I saw flavored seaweed snacks I thought wow, what a great snack. Unfortunately, I haven't found any kosher ones so I made my own. And you can get as creative as you want with flavors. Our favorite is Pickled Ginger.

  • 4 sheets of toasted nori
  • oil (any variety)

Flavor options

  • pickled ginger juice
  • sea salt
  • wasabi powder
  • sriracha
  • garlic powder


Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Cut nori into small squares or large strips using sharp scissors. Place nori onto a baking sheet sheet.

Most flavoring are best with oil, but I found the pickled ginger variety really interesting and made it without oil.  These got more curly then ther others because of the liquid, but it didn't bother us.  For the other flavors you can mix the oil with spices of choice and use a pastry brush to brush a light coating on both sides of the nori pieces.  If desired you can sprinkle more or other spices on top.  Then bake for 15 to 20 minutes.  Let cool and store in an airtight container (though I have not been able to make enough to store yet, they all get eaten too fast).
