Sachlav is a popular Middle Eastern/Israeli hot drink that is thick and flavored with rose water or orange blossom and cinnamon. It is typically served with toppings of nuts and raising and coconut as desired, get my recipe for Sachlav here.
I took that flavor profile and added to my breakfast oatmeal and it is delicious. Usually Sachlav is made with a special thickener and milk, with the oatmeal you don’t need the thickener so it is easier to make anywhere.

I am not sure about the cooking method when using rice, but the flavor profile would work perfectly!!
Hi Tamar,
Do you know if it would work with rice instead of oats? (parve rice pudding!!)
thanks!
From a calorie perspective it is basically 1/2 cup oatmeal and 1 tablespoon of sugar and you can use stevia if you want to make it sugar free or less sugar. I did a quick calculation and if you use water instead of milk and 1 tablespoon of pistachios it comes to 280 calories, 7 grams of protein.
do you know the nutritional info of this recipe? how many calories would a serving be?
