How Your Kids Can Prep Their Smoothies The Night Before
It’s hot out there, time to dust off that blender and whip up some cool, healthy, icy drinks. They're also the fastest breakfast your kids will love to make themselves. Here's how to do it.
Pint size mason jars
Bowls of:
FRUIT
Fresh or frozen strawberries, blueberries, mango chunks, watermelon, cantaloupe, unpeeled seedless tangerines (halved), avocado chunks
DRIED FRUIT AND SEEDS
Chia seeds, cracked flax seeds, pitted dates, raisins
OTHER
Yogurt, oats, rice (a la Horchata), fresh herbs, chocolate chips, nut butter, cocoa powder
LIQUID
Almond milk, coconut milk, whole dairy cow’s milk, water
ICE
- Have kids prep their own smoothies the night before by filling jars ¾ of the way with smoothie ingredients of their choice. Store jars, covered overnight in the refrigerator.
- Transfer ingredients to blender, add ice and whirr. Pour back into mason jar and add straw.
