Ultimate dry rub for Kabobs

ULTIMATE DRY RUB KEBOBS

We could eat Israeli style every Shabbat, in fact, we sort of do, but it’s particularly perfect in the heat of Summer.  Lots of Salatim, quick grilled kebobs and you don’t need much else.

SUN DRIED TOMATO FALAFEL SALAD

Everyone loves falafel, whether you make your own with this Modern Israeli twist using sun-dried tomatoes or just heat some from the freezer, when you serve on a salad it’s a great first course.

ULTIMATE DRY RUB KEBOBS

Kebobs are any kind of meat on a stick and grilled.  This recipe is all about the dry rub, once you have your spices you can choose your choice of meat and follow our directions for the perfect marinade.

I like to make goulash with ground beef. Most people use beef chunks but my family prefers the ground beef version. It’s a vaguely-Hungarian recipe with lots of paprika, but I add a little soy sauce and cinnamon to sweeten it up. It’s delicious over egg noodles with braised red cabbage!

Mini meatloaves simmered in gravy left from roasts. (Stockpile leftover gravy and meat juices from roasts in a plastic container in the freezer and then simmer your favorite chop meat mixture in small loaves in the liquid.

I love to make a meat roll in puff pastry dough. It’s a great appetizer. You use ground beef, saute with onions, add some tomato sauce with mushrooms, lemon juice, a dash of sugar, matza farfel. Once that cooks for a while and cools off you wrap it in a puff pastry dough. You can make it for Pesach minus the dough.

We are very traditional with our beef tastes in my family – meatloaf and meatballs. In fact, I just made both last night and put them in the freezer for the future. Every once in a while, my girls enjoy tacos.
