I have to tell you, every once in a while, I sit down with someone whose life story sounds like it was written for the big screen—and in this case, it actually was!
This week on No Reservations, I am welcoming the incredible Hannah Abutbul. Many of you might recognize her as Ximena Orozco, the famous Mexican child star and telenovela actress. She grew up with the paparazzi following her, fame at her fingertips, and fortune in the bank. But beneath the scripts and the applause, Hannah was searching for something the cameras couldn’t capture.

The Script She Didn’t Write
Hannah’s journey from Mexico City to Jerusalem is a testament to the undeniable pull of truth. Imagine being at the height of your career and realizing that the “fame” isn’t filling your soul. One YouTube video about the Torah being the “instruction manual for life” changed everything for her.
She didn’t just change her religion; she reinvented her entire existence. We sat down on the Aish rooftop to talk about the raw, unfiltered reality of her journey:
- The Secret Synagogue: How she used to tell her parents she was going to a party just so she could sneak away to the synagogue. (Talk about a reverse rebellion!)
- From Red Carpets to Mops: What it was like to go from being a household name to working as a cleaning lady in Jerusalem while she studied for her conversion.
- The “Accidental” Nurse: The terrifying moment after October 7th when she was falsely identified in a viral video, leading to international controversy and death threats.
- A Family Found: How she met her husband, built a Jewish home, and became the face of Aish Latino, reaching millions of Spanish-speaking souls.
No Filters. No Fear.
What moved me most about Hannah is her refusal to collapse under pressure. Whether it was being questioned by the rabbinical courts or facing a firestorm of online hate, she remained steadfast. She traded the “make-believe” of the acting world for a life that is authentically, vibrantly Jewish.

She is living proof that it is never too late to follow that inner spark and that the most “exclusive” table in the world—the table of truth—is open to everyone.
I promise you, her courage is contagious:
