Hi, I really enjoyed watching these. That challah looks delicious!
I’d also like to see the other method for a six braider so I can decide which I prefer.
Hi Zahava – I know all too well about which you speak! There is a brand of challahs sold in the store here called “The Challah Fairy” and she (assuming it’s a she) does a crumb topping that is out of this world — like cake! and so unfair b/c I can eat the entire thing in one sitting. You can use my crumb topping from my Cran Apple Crunch Kugel Recipe http://www.joyofkosher.com/recipe/cran-apple-crunch-kugel-2/ – it’ll be perfect on challah or even on pies, struesel, muffins and even coffee cake.
Hi Jamie!
Would you by any chance have an old fashioned “yekke” recipe for streussel kuchen which is a crumb cake baked with a yeast dough on a sheet pan?
I have been trying for years to obtain this recipe to no avail. Help Please!!!
Hi Jamie! Would you happen to have a sweet crumb topping recipe for Challah? I had it at someone’s house 1 time and it was really amazing! I actually got the challah in shalach manos and didn’t wash for hamotzei on it because I thought it wass cake because it tasted and looked like cake! If you would have a recipe for that, that would be awesome! Thanks!
Hi Esther: it’s called EVERYTHING MIX (or spice blend) – like the kind of topping you find on an EVERYTHING bagel – it’s heavenly and addictive — I make a point NOT to buy the salt free version, just a personal preference. The brand I use is Lieber’s. Look for this in the baking or spice aisles of your supermarket.
Raizy Face!!!! Hi – I get them at the local Kosher Supermarket — I have every size round and oval – but just know that you can use a traditional loaf pan OR bake your challahs on cookie sheets: but the brand is Magic Mill – here it is on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Mill-Heavy-Non-Stick-Challah/dp/B0019IA1XS

Hi Norma, I am so sorry I don’t. But we can put out an SOS call to all our bloggers and see what we come up with.

What is that topping is that she puts on the challah? She should have made sure the label was facing the camera. I didn’t hear her say what it was.
Where do you find such an oval pan?
