Jerusalem’s Front Gate: A Soulful Walk with Nina Broder

I have always said that there is something about the energy of Jerusalem that you just can’t find anywhere else in the world. But experiencing it through the eyes of someone who lives, breathes, and documents its beauty every single day? That is a real treat!

This week on Jamie in the Rova, I’m walking through the Old City with the wonderful Nina Broder. You might know her as the woman behind the most popular accounts highlighting the magic of this city. She shows us everything from hidden historical gems to the best places to grab a bite with your family.

Watch our walk through Jerusalem and visit to the Aish rooftop here!

A Love That Never Gets Old

Nina was born in Israel, moved to America, and then made the brave choice to come back at age 13. We talked about how her “hardcore Zionist” dad bought a massive tent from Walmart when they first moved back, just in case they didn’t have a house yet!

But what really touched me was how Nina describes her daily relationship with the Kotel (the Western Wall). She says she never gets sick of it. To her, it’s like visiting “Hashem’s front gate.” Even if we can’t go inside the Holy of Holies yet, she wants to be as close as possible to the “front door” every single day.

We explored:

  • The Tourist Mindset: Why Nina still pretends to be a tourist in her own city, discovering new history and archeology around every corner.
  • The “Thank You” Letter: The emotional moment Nina wrote to her parents thanking them for bringing her to Israel, despite her initial nerves as a teenager.
  • Prophecy in Real Time: Seeing the foxes at the Wall and the children playing in the streets of Jerusalem—literal prophecies coming to life before our eyes.
  • A New Perspective: Why Nina recently decided to step in front of the lens to become the “face” of Jerusalem, helping the world see the day-to-day beauty of our land.

The Gateway to Heaven

Standing on the iconic rooftop of the Dan Family Aish World Center, looking out over the Temple Mount, Nina shared a blessing that I’ve been thinking about ever since. She often sings Ani Ma’amin (“I Believe”) to herself when she’s here. It’s a deep, unwavering belief that despite the challenges, we are seeing miracles every single day.

Jerusalem is the origin story of mankind, and being here—where heaven and earth meet—is a privilege I promise I will never take for granted.

Let’s Share the Belief

Nina’s work helps people all over the world feel like they are standing right here with us. Stories like hers remind us that we aren’t just living in history; we are living in a miracle.

I’d love to know: If you could stand at “Hashem’s front gate” today, what is the one thing you’d want to pray for? Let’s share our hopes in the comments.
