Tu B’shevat is a one-day holiday. It is the birthday of the trees. Tu Bishvat is a festival bursting with nature’s splendor and the vibrancy of life! It is dedicated to honoring the Earth, its fruits, and the life-sustaining essence of trees.
The simple ways to honor and celebrate this holiday is by eating symbolic foods for celebrating trees like fruits and nuts, but you can go further and follow this kabalistic tradition for a full Tu B’shevat seder. (don’t worry this one is really focused on the food).
Some people like to plant trees in Israel (either physically or with a donation), drink wine from Israel, and express gratitude for all of life’s bounty.
And for those who want to extend the fun to Shabbat we have a few menus here that are holiday-worthy with lots of the 7 species of the bible ingredients, but won’t have you slaving away for hours in the kitchen.
