Yom Haatzmaut falls this year on April 22, 2026. Traditionally Yom Haatzmaut is a day off from work for Israelis, a day to spend with family and celebrate Israel’s Independence Day – this year is Israel’s 78th birthday and it will be another year where we can’t celebrate in our usual ways.
The last few years have been difficult and painful, but Israel’s spirit of resilience, joy and a dedication to freedom despite all odds is apparent and we need to come together to honor this day.
That’s why we come together with food. Here we bring you a round up of our Israeli recipes – everything you need for an authentic Israeli feast.

Celebrate Israel with the best of Israeli food
What foods make you think of Israel? How are you celebrating Yom Haatzmaut this year?

Great list. I’m sharing now. Happy Yom Haatzmau!
I think the main thing missing from the list is Grilled Meat! I’ll make sure to take some pictures and post my secret recipe for Israeli Grilled Chicken Wings, Moroccan grilled kebabs, and my “can’t have a BBQ without the pitas, grilled pitas”. As in israel Yom Hatazmaot could be called national BBQ day, all of Am Yisrael takes to the parks, beaches and backyards for a day full of grilled protein!
